Firts off all, no single multiplat engine can't handle the power of the PS3.
The architeture from the PS3 is so new that they need a new engine for this architecture to sqeeze all the power from the PS3.
Second, multiplat is always the same becouse that's the power from the 360 holding the game the same, even if the developers use the PS3 as the lead platform, the game will look the same.
